Hello!

It has been a long time since I have blogged.  I just created this new blog to chronicle my first year of teaching kindergarten.  I am so excited about teaching.  I have spent my entire career working with children.  Prior to finishing my teaching career I worked with children in a clinical setting but I always new my heart was in teaching.

I have lots of ideas for my classroom, which I am in the process of preparing.  Talk about overwhelming....I feel like I just bought a house and I am moving in.  I know I am certainly doing my best to make it feel like home for myself and my students.  There is a LOT of work to be done.  Today I just tried to get the furniture in place the way I wanted it.  Tip #1:  Get to know the custodian in your school. Mine has been so helpful.  He even called to let me know that the floors in my room had been washed and that I could get into my room and get started.  He has also relocated several heavy pieced of furniture and already made a few minor repairs to my room.  Thanks Mr. M.!

It has been tough trying to find time to go and work on my room because I am also teaching summer school.  I have to say that I have created so many fun literacy centers for summer school that I am feeling a little more prepared for the new school year but there is still a ton for me to do.

So welcome to my blog.  I hope to post some pictures of my room soon so that you can join me on my journey.  I am sure it will be an adventure but I am positive it will be a "hoot"!
